Considered to be one of the greatest hockey players of all time in the National Hockey League Mark Messier has had quite the lucrative hockey career. He has worn many jerseys in his day, played for three different NHL franchises, and was played alongside the Great One: Wayne Gretzky. Mark Messier has won a total of six Stanley Cup trophies and has obtained a handful of others to fill out his trophy case.

Mark Messier is known most notably probably for wearing the Edmonton Oilers jersey. It was while wearing this jersey that Messier paired up with Wayne Gretzky to win five Stanley Cup championships. Images of Messier dawning the blue, orange, and white colors of the Oilers adorn many children's playing cards, lunch boxes, and anything else merchandisers see fit to slap a famous face onto. The Oilers logo was displayed prominently on his chest, a white circle with a descending orange drop of oil, as he defended his friend Gretzky and conquered all the other teams.

In 1991 Messier moved from the Oilers to the New York Rangers. He would still get to wear mostly blue jerseys but now he would have to bear a little bit more American pride. He won a Stanley Cup in the New York Ranger's red, white, and blue uniform and stayed with the team for six years. Towards the end of his run with the Rangers he even had the pleasure of teaming up with his buddy Gretzky one more time and even though they didn't win any championships that year it was still a sight to see.

In 1997 Messier was traded to the Vancouver Canucks. A welcome move perhaps as Messier was born in Edmonton and most likely enjoyed being back on Canadian soil after playing for such a patriotic American team. He played with Vancouver until the year 2000 when he moved back to New York to try and bring the team back from the dead.

Sadly it was no use and Messier retired in 2004 without winning any further championships. The man has worn many jerseys in his day, coincidentally all with a blue color scheme, and he has accomplished what most national athletes only dream of. Today Messier is part of the "Team Up and Bring Home the Cup" organization. It is a contest developed by Pepsi that grants Canada's most hardy fans the chance to throw a party with their favorite team in their home town. Messier attends wearing an Edmonton Oilers jersey on most occasions.
